Experiencing grace in living on mission…

046The Practical Mission

We’ve been through a lot with my church. That’s right, I just claimed conVerge as my church. What that means has less to do with any actions I am taking, and more to do with what God is doing in the local church. In the last few months we have seen some people grow in ways beyond anything any of us would have considered possible in previous years. What we have also seen is people find something new, relax, and remain unwilling to Remember the Mission. In Luke 22, when Jesus broke bread with the disciples at the Last Supper and instructed them to “do this in remembrance of me,” He didn’t just imply for a mental image to pass through our cerebral cortex for a split second. He implied that every day in the actions we take, we use the what He came to do on earth for us to determine our decisions in life. That involves a commitment to the mission you are remembering, which is a lot to struggle with.

Personally, finances have always been something for me to get a great grasp on. I can easily admit that, and I know I’m not alone in doing so. My decisions to make wise choices with money certainly effect how my plans for the future are effected, which play into my spiritual goals to live my life remembering the Mission of Jesus. Where I move in life (physically/economically) plays into my commitment to remembering what Jesus came to do. What I say to certain people has everything to do with the community I’m committing to. Everything is Spiritual, it just took 23 years for me to realize it and actually find a way to live different.

You can’t get tired of “the Mission” if it’s ingrained in who you are.
